South Elementary School of Communications offers a range of classroom services to meet the needs of our students. Currently, we have ten general education classrooms in grades K-4 along with Title 1, Resource, Speech, and four rooms for Special Education. We also have rooms designated for Music, Art, P.E., Library, and Technology specials. We offer a PreK Program through Title I that meets 4 days a week(Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays). South Elementary School of Communications has a full-time counselor, nurse, and secretary. Adult and Child Behavioral Services are also available. South Elementary School School of Communications became a Common Sense School in 2018-2019 which means that all teachers became certified in digital citizenship. We updated our certification for 2020-2022. In addition, South Elementary School of Communications is also working towards becoming a Center of Excellence with LAMP (Language Acquisition for Motor Planning).
Communication is important. Teachers can be reached by phone, e-mail, or a conference can be set up. Most teachers use programs such as Dojo or Seesaw to communicate with parents. Information from individual teachers will be sent home with students on these programs.
Special awards and recognition are given for the HERO (character) program, Lexia Superstars, and learning and mastering math facts.
South uses various assessment or technology programs such as Lexia, NWEA, Study Island, Seesaw, Google Classroom, Happy Numbers, Reflex, Type to Learn, and Spelling City.
We would encourage parents to login to Family Access in Skyward to stay informed about their student’s information and grades. This service will allow parents to view their child’s attendance, grades, schedule, food service balance, progress, assignments, and emergency information.
