Red Ribbon Week for MSD of Martinsville Students

Last week, MSD of Martinsville students in Kindergarten through 8th th grade participated in
the Red Ribbon Campaign, a national campaign that provides drug awareness to students
and families. To celebrate this important initiative and start conversations within our district,
our principals and teachers developed special projects that encouraged student
Projects included:
-Themed dress up days @ school: all schools participated
Examples of themes:
-‘Don’t Goof around with drugs’ – Disney apparel
-‘Give drugs the boot.’ – wear boots and western gear
-‘Don’t let drugs go to your head.’ –crazy hat day
-wear red clothing
-‘Sock it to Drugs’ — crazy socks day — “sock it to drugs”
-‘Team up against drugs’ — wear your favorite team attire
-wear your school colors

Additional projects:
-Voluntary donations to the Humane Society because students won’t let their ‘paws touch
drugs’. -Paragon Elementary
-Anti- Drug Wall Decorating Contest for students in Success classes – John R. Wooden
Middle School. The winning door: Mrs. Cushing
-Students signed a ‘Drug Free Banner’ and received a red silicone bracelet. –John R.
Wooden Middle School

-Students created an anti-drug mural. – Bell Intermediate
