MSD OF MARTINSVILLE RECEIVE’S
DONATION FROM DUKE ENERGY FOR ‘REAL MEN READ’ PROJECT!

Morgan County, IN- On Wednesday, August 29, 2018, Principal Kyle Stout and the Kindergarten class of teacher Ms. Sheri Riddle were presented a $4,219.35 check for the Real Men Read program from Mr. Bruce Calloway, South Central Indiana Manager, Duke Energy.

The funds will introduce the ‘Real Men Read’ program into the kindergarten classes of all MSD of Martinsville schools. The goal of Real Men Read is not only to donate books to students but also read to each kindergarten class on five separate occasions throughout the school year.

“Children benefit by seeing men demonstrating the importance of reading, and hopefully it inspires boys—and girls—to read more,” said Duke Energy South Central Indiana Manager Bruce Calloway. “The program gets books into children’s hands and introduces an often overlooked volunteer base to our schools.”

Principal Kyle Stout stated, “We are so excited for the Real Men Read Program to be a part of Smith Fine Arts Academy. The number one predictor of student academic success is their ability to read, and this program gives us one more resource to aid our students along as their academic journey is just beginning with our school, our district, and our community.”
