MSD of Martinsville Opts for Handheld Metal Detectors through Governor Holcomb’s Grant Program

Morgan County, IN- The MSD of Martinsville has requested seventeen (17) handheld metal detectors to be used in Martinsville schools. The metal detectors are free to our district and funded through the Indiana Secured School Safety Grant Fund, part of Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb’s safety grant program. The devices are scheduled to arrive in mid- to late August.

The MSD of Martinsville Safety team is currently developing usage guidelines and policy for the district and will soon introduce their report to the Board of School Trustees for approval. The next steps include training our teaching and administration staff and implementing the devices.

“We participated in this opportunity to receive metal detectors for our district to continuously improve safety measures. My main priority is the safety of our students, teachers, and administration. It is important for everyone to be and feel safe in the school environment,” stated Dr. Moore, superintendent, MSD of Martinsville. “I would like to thank Governor Holcomb for creating this opportunity for Indiana schools and taking school safety seriously.”
