Artesian PRIDE ™ / Parallel Pathways

Fall 2017,  MSD of Martinsville and Dr. Michele Moore initiated the Artesian PRIDE ™ and Parallel Pathways program. Two projects ensuring that our students receive the best opportunities available to them upon graduation.

Artesian PRIDE™

Newly implemented this academic year, 2017-2018, the Artesian PRIDE™ program will help positively encourage the development of the soft skills necessary for our students to increase their marketability to employers. Criteria for the PRIDE™ program, which stands for Persistence, Respectfulness, Initiative, Dependability, and Efficiency, was originally developed by educators and business leaders in Southern Indiana as a tool to help prepare students for the workforce or college.

Open to all high school seniors, participants who successfully complete the program will receive a PRIDE™ sash to wear at graduation and a Work Ethic Certificate signed by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb.

In addition, Martinsville businesses are partnering as Artesian PRIDE™ members to encourage local employment. For example, once students receive their certificate and a participating business has a job opening, our students are guaranteed an interview. There is no deadline for this guarantee and applies to students entering the workforce after high school or four years later after college.

The PRIDE™ program began this year in September and will continue through the end of school. To receive a certificate, students must have:

-98% attendance for the entire year.
-exhibited PRIDE skills.
-completed six hours of community service.
-at least a “C” grade point average.
-no more than one behavioral referral.
